Introducing Our Herbalist-Guided Sauna Sessions

Our Herbalist-Guided Sauna Sessions

We’ve quietly been running a new style of guided sauna session at Ahi Mahi — and we think it deserves a proper introduction.

Crafted for the Season

For each session, Patrice blends essential oils to reflect what our bodies and minds need most at this point of the year. Right now we’re using her Ahi Mahi Summer Mix — a bright, grounding combination designed to support recovery, calm the nervous system, and make the heat feel spacious and uplifting.

This seasonal approach brings something unique to the sauna: it’s not just hot-cold therapy, it’s scent, breathwork, herbs, and nature woven together.

What to Expect

Herbalist-led sessions are less hurried than a standard sauna booking. They’re guided, restorative, and created for people who want to go a little deeper into the wellbeing side of the experience.

  • breath and heat cycles

  • seasonal herbal blends

  • heat + recovery focus

  • space for rest, reset, and nervous system balance

Session Times

As our schedule continues to grow, we’ll keep this format anchored to late mornings, when the river is quiet and the sun is just beginning to warm the Maitai.

For Those Who Train, Ride, or Move

We’re also beginning to see a natural alignment between the herbal sessions and our sporty Nelson crew — especially mountain bikers. Patrice’s blends include botanicals selected for muscle recovery and inflammation support, which makes it an appealing add-on for anyone who rides the Maitai trails or puts their body through regular training.

A Special Invitation

If you’ve been curious about sauna beyond the social heat-and-plunge format, this might be the session for you. It’s a softer ritual; one that prioritises recovery, grounding, and seasonal wellbeing.

Bookings are open, and spaces are intentionally limited to keep the room calm and spacious.
